Busy Day At The Dark Farm

Today was another busy day.

Spent half the afternoon reading Lakoff (quite interesting reading) and the rest of it playing with the VPS of (as ol’ Rumpole of the Bailey used to say) she who must be obeyed.

So, almost remembered all that needs to be remembered just got to get a bit of a memory to do with iptables (if they’re even a thing any more, I’m still thinking ipchains which was in the early 2000’s). Only thing is getting the new Let’s Encrypt (Certbot) module to work in Virtualmin along with the auto-renew function.

Anyway, it’s all good fun and not very expensive fun at that!

Hmmm, dreams are made of this

The Sora by Lito looks just about right.

The price tag not so much.

Really, this is that “the future is now” kind of stuff especially given its projected 300 km range! I could get to and from town without any problems. Could even go to Hobart, spend the night while the bike and I recharge and come back the following day.

Ah, ye, dreams are made of this.

Luvin’ it.

Fantasy Scroll – Fiction Writing Blog for Writers, Authors, and Publishers

A few months ago I published a post that contained the first version of a novel outlining tool for Excel. This is the second version of that tool, including several fixes, improvements, and additions. I strongly suggest that you read the first post before jumping into this one to get a full understanding. In this post I am only discussing the new additions.   What’s New? The new version includes a few bug-fixes, updates in the general look-and-feel and various text edits here and there. I also tried my best to improve the documentation and add comments on the headers wherever I felt an explanation is needed. So, wherever you see a little red triangle in the top-right corner of a cell, you can hover your mouse and a text-hint will pop up, like in the image on the left.   Changes in the Scene List Not too much changed here, except for one thing: I’ve added an Act column. If you subscribe to the 3-Act structure, or a different similar Act-Based structure, this is helpful

Busy Day Fixing Android Device

It was a busy day today trying to find the source of some annoying android popups. The tablet was infected with something that kept generating airpush adverts and trying to install apps. Took 2 days to fix (or at least get the tablet working properly).

Eventually had to root the device and then rummage around with adb so I could work out what was calling the popups into existence. Took a little while but I found the little blighters.

Then couldn’t overcome the privileges they’d given themselves (though I must admit I think they could have been part of the ROM) so installed titanium and that fixed the buggers.

Now, one shiny new 4.4.2 KitKat Android tablet awaiting decimation from the Karenator.

That means of course that I get a week or so grace period before it needs retrieval again…
